Can't get this song out of my head. It's one Finn's sugarpop faves. It's driving me slowly crazy. I'm waking up in the middle of the night with it in my head.
Pretty soon, thanks to the aural assault, I'll actually start to love it and then my friends, please please please intervene.
I was singing along with it earlier today and Finn caught me and was mad that I was 'mocking' it. Imagine my horror in the realization that I was earnestly singing it and not making fun of it at all! This is clearly a cry for help.
(Finn and I watched the video together. I questioned whether it was 'appropriate' or not. Probably not. He told me that he could see why the guy wanted to go out with the girl. I told him that girls don't really look like that and that the guy shouldn't be trying to 'go out' with a girl who has a boyfriend. ~Not to mention the whole ethics of her 'scene'~ Finn naturally tuned wetblanketmother out. Can you blame him?)
Our friend Julie was over for dinner the other night. She had a conversation with Poppy and her friend that went like this:
J: So, you guys are in kindergarten, right?
P and M: Heavy sighs..... Yup.....
J: And wow! Next year you'll be in grade one?
M: Well..... I don't think grade one will have much to teach us....
A HUGE windstorm last night. Seriously the most ferocious sounding wind that I've heard. It was trying to tear the siding off of Poppy's bedroom window. Brave Dave went out, climbed a ladder and screwed it back into place. He said the wind almost blew the ladder over.
I was worried that the wind might blow the old oak tree over onto the house. I always announce this worry to people whenever it's windy, hoping that they'll tell me that this is impossible and it will never happen. (This is my method of self assurance. It has a patchy track record as you might guess!)
I mentioned this to our 'across the street' neighbour and he told me that the oak tree that used to be on the corner of their lot actually did fall on their house in a windstorm. In the middle of the night (of course!) it broke through the roof and into their bedroom. Mmmmmhmmmmm.
Now I shall have to up my worry quotient to 'active'. I guess it might take care of us needing a new roof but I am a bit afraid of being impaled by an oak limb.
(PS. This tree is not on our property so it's not a matter I can take into my own hands. I do love the tree too and would hate to see it gone. Though of course I'd take treeless over impalement any day.)
Dave made this for me for Valentine's day. (and kept it a secret too!)
He ended up steaming the twigs in the pressure cooker!
I am lucky. Poor Dave will get the hat that I started for last years Valentine's day. I'm almost finished. Did I mention that I'm the slowest knitter ever?
Ahh what a romantic and creative husband you have! The only thing my gentleman has ever made for me was a card with a picture of a turkey on it....and this was actually for his mum, but he thought it was ugly and I said it was cute, so then it got turned into a card for me. Rats!
